An outstandingurban/housing economist, Professor Albert Saiz pursues research interests inlocal public finance, real estate economics and urban economic development,with an emphasis on immigration and immigrant location choices, and the impactof skills on earnings and city growth. He will be conducting research andteaching in both the urban planning and real estate programs.

Professor Saizalso serves as the Director of MIT’s Urban Economics Lab, which focuses on urban and real estate economics.

He holds a BAand an MA in economics from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (1995 and1997,respectively) and a PhD in economics from Harvard, 2002. Saiz currently servesas Editor of the Journal of Housing Economics.
